Let your favorite hunks from True Blood light up your party! Here is a cheap and elegant idea for a photo frame lantern to use in your party decor. These are really simple and cheap to make.
You will need three 5" x 7" photo frames. We got ours from the local dollar store. Remove the glass and backing from the frames. These can be discarded.
Turn your frame over where the backside is facing you. Lay your photo down inside the frame and make sure it will fit. You may need to trim off a tad. When your photo fits the inside of your frame, run a thin line of Super glue along the top and halfway down the sides of the frame. Lay your photo inside the frame and adjust. Lift up your vellum print and Super Glue the remaining half.
Once you have all three prints in their frames we are ready to attach are frames together to make our lantern. You will need some ribbon, we used black since our frames were black. Cut your ribbon the length of your frame. Line up two of the frames very close together, and use a hot glue gun to apply a bead of glue near the edge of each frame. Very quickly put a piece of ribbon down over the glue and press it into place. Once cool, lift the frame up and test to be sure that the ribbon hinge is working as you expect it to. Continue until you have all three glued side by side.
Then add one more piece of ribbon to the side of the third frame, but make sure that you leave half of it hanging over the edge. This will become your last hinge in a few minutes when we join the frames together in a triangle. Now fold the last piece of ribbon up, making a crease. Stand the frames up and bring the two ends together, making sure that your creased ribbon will meet the other end of the first frame.Take your hot glue gun and run a bead of glue down the inside of the first frame, put the ends of the frames together, and use a metal ruler to press the ribbon down into the glue. And that’s it, you’re done!
Just place it over a lit votive candle in a glass holder on the table. For safety reasons, make sure the candle is in the center, and not touching any one side of the lantern or you can use battery operated tea lights as a safer option. The soft flickering light from the candle will light up your vellum and the table will look gorgeous and so will your True Blood hunks!
